Description

Introduction of Bote Ball Lenses

Ball lenses are solid or hollow glass beads with a diameter of several microns to tens of microns and are shaped like a sphere, hence the name. Spherical lenses have good surface finish and excellent reflective properties, including light reflectivity and directional reflectivity.

Ball lenses are used to improve signal coupling between optical fibers, emitters and detectors and improve signal quality. They can also be used in endoscopes, barcode scanning, pre-processed materials for aspheric lenses, sensors, etc.

There are two main methods for manufacturing ball lenses: one is to heat the glass powder to a molten state through high-temperature gas and use surface tension to form round beads; the other is to melt the glass batch and directly blow it with high-speed airflow to form glass droplets. Balls form due to surface tension.

Application

Optical fiber communication: Ball lenses play a key role in optical fiber communication and are used to improve the signal coupling efficiency between optical fibers, transmitters and detectors. Its excellent focusing and collimation performance ensures efficient transmission of optical signals in optical fibers.

Endoscopy and medical imaging: In the medical field, ball lenses are widely used in endoscopes and medical imaging equipment. Its small size and excellent optical performance allow doctors to clearly observe the lesions in the patient’s body, providing strong support for diagnosis and treatment.

Barcode Scanning and Imaging Systems: In the commercial and logistics sectors, ball lenses are commonly used in barcode scanners and imaging systems. Its precise focusing and imaging capabilities ensure fast and accurate reading of barcode information, improving logistics efficiency and accuracy.

Laser Systems: Ball lenses also play an important role in laser systems. They are used to focus and shape laser beams to meet the needs of various applications such as material processing, laser marking, laser cutting, etc.

Feature of Bote Ball Lenses

  • Excellent optical performance: the ball lens has good surface finish, good light reflectivity, and directional reflectivity
  • High chemical stability: Ball lenses are usually made of materials such as optical glass. These materials have excellent chemical stability and can maintain stable performance in various environments.
  • High impact strength: The ball lens has high impact strength and can resist external impact and vibration to a certain extent, maintaining the stability of its optical performance.
  • Light weight: The ball lens has lightweight characteristics, which makes it advantageous in optical systems that require lightweight design, which can reduce the weight and cost of the entire system.
  • Flexible manufacturing process: There are various manufacturing methods for ball lenses, including heating glass powder to a molten state through high-temperature gas to form round beads, or melting glass batch materials and directly blowing them with high-speed airflow to form round beads, etc. These methods can adjust parameters as needed to produce ball lenses with different specifications and performance.
  • Low cost: Although the ball lens has superior optical properties and a wide range of applications, its manufacturing cost is relatively low, making it an economical and practical optical element
